Whittier

If you're ever down by Anchorage and want to go through an awesome
tunnel you should take the trip down to the Portage Glacier and visit
Whittier. I don't remember exactly how long it took to go through the
tunnel, but it was probably close to ten minutes. The tunnel is the
same for passenger vehicles (one way) and for the train in the picture.
They allow something like twenty minutes for cars one way, twenty
minutes for cars the other way, and then a half hour for trains to get
through. So if you don't make your trip through the tunnel, you get to
wait quite awhile before you are able to proceed.
